Created by a local community-based organization with funding from a foundation supporting business development, Jolt Café not only generates revenue for the organization, but it also provides job training and educational opportunities through a partnership with VeloCity University. Residents, community leaders, and elected officials work together to advance public policies that help all people access the essential building blocks of well-being needed to thrive over the course of a lifetime. The center takes a holistic approach to personal well-being—addressing physical, mental, financial, social, and professional health. Join the Advancing Equity learning series. Everyone feels welcome at VeloCity’s local neighborhood center, Excelerator Center. It supports residents, fellow community-based organizations, businesses, and public agencies in working together to advance equitable opportunities for all. While it is an ongoing journey, they have made significant strides in addressing racism at multiple levels, from implicit bias to systemic barriers. Join the Safety & Resilience learning series. VeloCity, has reimagined the child welfare system to build a better child and family well-being system, one that is grounded in equity and prevention. Multiple agencies and partners work together to identify root causes, use population-level data, and equitably allocate resources and services. Join the Organizational Excellence learning series (for board members and CEOs only). At the Connector Retreat Center, executives and board members gain the knowledge and tools they need to prepare and position their organizations to achieve impact in an increasingly complex world. Nutrition is a longstanding pillar of wellness but does not mean eating kale three meals a day. Through a partnership between the Resource Center and a major corporate sponsor, VeloCity has a fruitful urban agriculture program. The VeloCity community theater offers a variety of performances, educational opportunities, and an annual film festival. It also will host the Excelerator’s opening and closing ceremonies. Opening ceremonies will explore the current global reality of operating in a pandemic while also confronting systemic and structural racism. As the weeks progress, and closing ceremonies start, you will gain clarity on what it takes to thrive, as an organization and person in the futuree. Join the Population Health and Well-Being learning series. At the VeloCity Community Clinic, residents have access to quality, affordable health care and more. Doctors, social workers, therapists, nutritionists, and other partners work together to ensure that all aspects of patients’ health and well-being are addressed. By using the lenses of equity and the social determinants of health, this community clinic is reducing racial health disparities in VeloCity.
